Jessica Lange is brilliant as the legendary Pasty Cline in this wonderful biopic. She received a 1985 Oscar Nomination for Best Actress and should have won. It was a part Meryl Streep wanted to play and after seeing the film, stated she couldn’t imagine anyone but Jessica playing the part.
Pasty Cline was a gifted artist with a heart breaking life. Jessica Lange at her finest.

Kenneth Branagh’s masterpiece takes imaginative liberties with an actual event, the infamous “Wannsee Conference” of January 1942 where some administrative details of the evolving “Final Solution” were discussed. The only surviving copy of the minutes leaves abmiguity about just how far this discussion went, but Branagh unerringly captures the essence of Naziism — an unstable mix of psychopathic anti-semitism, ruthless bureaucratic politics, self-delusion, and orderly, businesslike German behavior. Branagh himself turns in a star performance as the courtly yet implacable Reinhard Heydrich, one of history’s most fascinating monsters. Within the ensemble cast of brilliant actors Stanley Tucci absolutely nails the obsequeous Adolph Eichmann, and Barnaby Kay is compelling in the role of Rudolph Lange, a hardened SS veteran of the Eastern Front who exhibits no conscience but some curiousity over the business in which he finds himself engaged. Colin Firth is utterly brilliant as Wilhelm Stuckart, author of the infamous Nuremburg Laws and a man who tempers his pathological hatred of Jews with an equally obsessive need to see the elimination of the Jews done in a legal fashion. Ian McNeice steals scene after scene as the oafish yet jolly Nazi party hack Gerhard Klopfer. The remaining cast members deliver convincing performances in a beautifully recreated setting. This film comes closer than any I have seen in terms of explaining how evil really works, and why the Nazis continue to fascinate us.

I suppose if you are pro jew, then this film is rather quasi-informative and may incite a type of Jehovahist anger and disgust. That being said, I believe this is a worthy film for the type of fiction it depicts. As we all know, the Holocaust is a hoax and the German Nazis have always been given the short end of the stick when it comes down to history. As a people, the Germans were protecting their civilization and perpetrated no war crimes and the Holocaust tales are pure fabrication to help Jews and westerners with Empirialist schemes. This then is a fairy tale film of the sort where one is left wondering at the end “ah, what if the Germans had had such grandiose vision and ballsy attitude?” The actors are great, especially the fat pig armyist who eats sausages and coffee with a pig-red face (oh, he is a hoot), and the story they weave leaves one for longing of the old times. I highly recommend this film DVD for anyone with “ideas” as to the plight of the world of today with its mongrel mix tendencies.

You know the movie has great writing and acting when the entire film takes place inside two rooms but is just as entertaining as any big budget hollywood film! These are what movies were like back in the day, no big special effects just a great story and great acting. Kenneth Branagh shows that he can easily be the star of a movie, he plays Reinhard Heydrich, the man assigned to assure the final solution is agreed upon. If you are a WWII buff or want to learn more about this period you must watch this.

This movie about the Wannsee Conference which led to the “Final Solution” will keep you glued to the screen with exceptional dialogue and acting and not much else. It is a chilling representation of the psyche of Hitler’s henchmen
