Love Is A Many Splendored Thing is my favorite movie. I love the theme song and it’s such a wonderful romantic movie. I have watched it many many times and I cry every time I watch it. The hilltop scenes are my favorite. Whenever I am outdoors and butterflies are flitting about, I am always hoping one will land on my shoulder – watch the movie and you will see what I am talking about. It is a wonderful movie and I highly recommend it if you love the older romantic movies. If you only like the “modern” romantic movies, watch this one anyway and I feel sure it will win you over.

Miracle on 34th Street – what can you say – but one of the best Christmas movies ever! There have been many remakes and knockoffs of this move but not one can hold a candle to the original. Whether in black and white or colorized, this is an enjoyable movie to watch with the whole family. The storyline, acting and setting of the movie can never be duplicated. It is a smart well crafted movie that will “tug at the heart strings”. It is a must to see and if there is anyone out there that hasn’t seen this movie (???), do yourself a favor and rent, Netflix and, better yet, purchase the movie to have for your own video library.

This is a great investment! Although I would have enjoyed seeing the color version in HD just as well as the B&W it was well worth my money and the video quality is outstanding, along with the 5.1 DTS-HD MA.

I was quite surprised at the anti-psychoanalytic slant of this film. One of the worst guys in it is an insensitive therapist working in the dept store: he gets a simple guy depressed (informing him he hates his father). Perhaps this “insight” was misplaced, but the Santa then visits him and whacks him in the head with an umbrella handle. THe message: whether you agree or disagree with that style of introspection, it is OK to bash someone you don’t like over the head. That is simple assault. I didn’t like it and didn’t enjoy my son laughing at the silly psychoanalyst as he went down.
Beyond that, the story is rather maudlin: widow with young child (adorably cute but needy) is seeking to find a new life in the right man. Meets the right man. Faces personal trial, child grows wiser. Plot with trial of quasi-Santa (yes, he is lovable, even as an assailant). The ending is a bit ambiguous, which at least adds some subtlety.
I did like this as a kid, but more because you watch in season than for the story itself. This viewing reinforced that.

I threw it in the trash. It’s about a young girl and her mother
who give very sensible and logical reasons for not believing
in Santa Clause. Then a man who thinks he is Santa Clause convinces them that it’s OK to believe in anything you want if
it makes you feel good. The lawyer is the only cool character in the movie. This lawyer “proves” in court that the man is Santa Clause. But he doesn’t really prove anything. It only proves that lawyers and twist things around.

It is all about expectations; I expected this to be one of the worst movies ever. Turns out, it isn’t really that bad. The Rock (yes I know he doesn’t like being called that anymore) is mostly believable as a hockey player turned tooth fairy. There is some silly slapstick humor in this film, that is well meaning.
Derek Thompson (Dwayne The Rock Johnson) is a down and out minor league hockey player that is nicknamed “The Tooth Fairy.” He’s an enforcer and knocked out a few teeth in his first season in the minor leagues. He is dating Carly (Ashley Judd – oh time has not been kind to her in this film) who has two children. One night while putting the youngest daughter to sleep, Derek let’s slip that the tooth fairy doesn’t exist. He is whisked away to tooth fairy land, headed by Julie Andrews, and given a two week punishment of being the tooth fairy. Billy Crystal has a nice cameo appearance.
The reason I enjoyed this film so much, my fourteen year old son actually sat through the whole film and laughed a lot. I would guess this film works for younger children. There is a bit of the Christmas stories about this, believe and good things will happen. Maybe the film just struck some nice chords along the way.
This film wins for the world’s WORST and obvious product placements I’ve ever seen, how in the world Fender got hosed into supporting this film is beyond me. The boy plays a Fender guitar and Fender amp – that works just fine. But darn it, if there weren’t Fender signs at the hockey arena. If this were Pepsi or Coca Cola, everyone would be up in arms for the product placements.
The hockey shots were really juiced up too much, they looked a lot like The Mighty Ducks. The special effects were pretty well done, I believed when The Rock shrunk to three inches tall.
This is a good for everyone film. There is no slimy double entendre humor that Disney seems to love to throw into their films. The humor is funny for all ages without excluding one age group. Mom and Dad won’t have to explain some lame joke because it was over their child’s head.
Maybe I’m a bit biased; I’m a Rock and Ashley Judd fan. I also expected this film to be really bad, virtually unwatchable. In the end, the whole family laughed at this film.

Not a bad little family movie. – Rick L. Parrish –
Cookie cutter plot about tooth fairies and childhood faith in such. Even Julie Andrews seems to be phoning it in. But The Rock goes all out and so does his beanstalk British case worker/mentor/wish-he-was-one. Has some cute moments and The Rock’s smile lights up the screen like I haven’t seen since Maurice Chevalier (albeit without the continental slyness). For the junior set it’s a fun little family movie…for the adults it can’t quite make you forget that missing tooth despite Billy Crystal showing up in an energetic mini-supporting role and again in the end credits. I just had the feeling when it was all over that something was missing besides the tooth!!! But the kids loved it and The Rock in a tutu is their new hero…and I guess when all is said and done…that’s what it’s all about. (for the tweeners there’s an interesting turn by Ryan Sheckler (skateboarder) as the hotshot up and coming hockey player)
Hilarious Movie! – Mini – Lake Ridge, VA
I watched this movie with my granchildren of various ages (3, 10 & 14). We all enjoyed it immensely. It was very funny but also had a great storyline. Dwayne Johnson is a terrific actor. There were several other great actors in it. I had fun watching this movie with my grandkids.

In my days as a child, I remember having Alvin and the Chipmunks on vinyl. For the younger generation that means a record. I can see me now dancing and signing away. I loved every minute of it. My memories of them is what lead me to purchase this DVD in the beginning. Now I can share the same fun experience with our children. Yes, they to get up and dance to the Chipmunk beat.
I love the modern makeover from the classic Alvin to the hip character he has become. All three of the chipmunks were well cast in voices. The animation fit in perfectly with the surrounds of the film. All in all I will say I found it to be well written and fun to watch for all age groups.
Alvin and the Chipmunks is a weekly watch in our home and truth to be told, we do not mind at all.
